Meet the Illinois Farm Families and Watch Us Grow
ISA makes it easy for farmers to answer tough consumer questions about the food they eat through a number of community outreach programs.
Considering that about half of Illinois soybeans are fed as soybean meal to hogs, chickens and cattle, Illinois soybean farmers play a significant role in growing food for your table. Consumers demand quality, great tasting foods. Moms especially want to know that the food they’re feeding their families is safe and good for them.
Illinois Farm Families is committed to putting mom's mind at rest by answering questions about food, farmers and farming.
How are we doing that?
Illinois Farm Families is comprised of farmers from across the state. They are committed to showing you how food is grown, answering questions about farmers and their operations, and sharing what really happens on today’s farms. More than 94 percent of Illinois farms are family owned and operated. Follow what our farmers are doing through the following programs:
-
WatchUsGrow.org -- Get to know Illinois Farm Families by meeting our farmers, asking your questions and seeing what we are doing to grow safe, healthy food.
-
Field Moms -- Meet Chicago-area moms (we call them Field Moms) who are touring Illinois farms to ask the same questions that many consumers have about food and farming. The Field Moms meet with farmers to discuss topics like chemicals, pesticides, the environment, animal care, hormones and antibiotics, while also uncovering the commonalities they share with farm families.
-
Outreach events -- Whether at the Lincoln Park Zoo, a Chicago farmers market or the Illinois State Fair, Illinois Farm Families are participating in a number of activities where we hope to learn what is important to you when it comes to food and farming.
-
Social media -- Join the conversation with Illinois Farm Families on Facebook and Twitter.
Our farmers support the Illinois Soybean Association, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Pork Producers Association, Illinois Corn Marketing Board and Illinois Beef Association.
